THEME: THE CHALLENGE OF UNDERDEVELOPMENT IN AFRICA LEVERAGING ENDOGENOUS RESEARCH AND INNOVATION FOR DEVELOPMENT.

On May 31, 2023, the university hosted a seminar for the student at the convocation hall, also inviting other school authorities to the venue scheduled at 10:00 am.

The program was hosted by Mr Ogunyomi, one of our philosophy lecturers. he took to the stage welcoming us and other people to the high table such as the governor of Lagos state, the vice-chancellor, the dean of student affairs, the Head of the department of humanities and social sciences and the department of science, the Reverend father, Acting bursar, registrar and other authorities from the other schools/ university that where invited.

The priest gave his blessing, followed by the national anthem and Augustine's anthem. The chairman of Centturd (The Centre of human resources and Development), professor Adesola Adetunde Ajayi, was called to give an opening remark. She started by greeting everyone present for the event then took us through a short story illustrating the theme of the event About Mary Ann Bevan, born on December 20, 1874, in Plaistow, Newham London, England. She concluded by saying she was privileged by visiting the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom, in March 2023, and marvelled at the level of development of their laboratories in the Department of chemical sciences and Biotechnology, ranked fourth in the world ranking and first in the United States. She also made some valid statements, like we can not do the same thing and expect a different result. If we do not know where going or the challenges is too enormous, we should know where we are coming from. We can afford to leverage exogenous research and innovation for development instead of doing nothing at all, hence the choice of the theme for the AUI research and fair conferences in 2023. She made an acknowledgement to the organisers of the committee and other higher authorities that were in the venue, which was followed by a round of applause welcoming the vice chancellor of Augustine University, Mr Christopher Odetunde. He also gave an opening remark appreciating everyone for creating time to attend the venue.

Lastly, the Orentor of the University, Dr James Oreashe, gave his remark by giving details about the keystone speaker, Professor Adesola Ajayi.
